The plot of URU reveals the history of the early events that took place in the Myst series of games. A change of view between first and third person is possible.
Before the passage, the player creates an avatar and adjusts his own appearance based on such parameters: age, physique, gender, clothes, hairstyle, skin color and others. If desired, the user can learn part of the language of an extinct race, the alphabet, the number system, earlier art, traditions, rituals and stories associated with ancient rulers. The planet is meticulously designed by the developers. The central character is portrayed as a sort of mechanic-archaeologist trying to understand the truth of the vanished civilization. As he progresses, he regenerates energy units and various mechanisms.
The main character searches for the portal books that allow opening the doors to new areas of the mysterious world.
